Dr Malinda Maynor Lowery is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at UNC and an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe. This is her second time teaching this course; her favorite part is learning from the students. She has written one book, Lumbee Indians in the Jim Crow South (UNC Press, 2010), and produced several short films, Real Indian (1996) and Sounds of Faith (1997), about the Lumbee. Dr Rebecca Dobbs is the Digital Humanities Specialist for HIST234. The rest of the time, she is a lecturer in UNC’s Geography Department. She has particular interests in historical geography, indigenous peoples, and digital humanities–and is having a blast with this course!
